Which Option is Best for Your Family? Pointers to consider if you're not sure if group, or private dog training is the right option for you.

Private 1:1 Dog Training is best if:

Private Dog Behaviour Training with My Complex Canine

My Complex Canine’s 1:1 dog training sessions offer personalised support tailored to you and your dog’s individual needs. These sessions provide focused guidance on essential skills such as recall, loose lead walking, settling calmly, and building confidence in new situations.

Working at your dog’s pace in a familiar environment helps create a relaxed learning experience. Using kind, reward-based training methods, you’ll gain the knowledge and practical tools to build strong foundations and set your dog up for a happy, well-behaved life with your family.

Group Dog Training Classes

The Youth Club course is for young dogs (5 months to 18 months). It is designed to build your dog’s ability to focus on you when out and about, move away from exciting things, and remain calmer around distractions. The training methods are fun game-based methods that engage natural instincts and behaviours. Covering, leave and drop, wait, distance positions, recall and loose lead exercises and calm boundary training.

The Happy Handling consent-based dog behaviour group class is for dogs of any age (over 20 weeks). It is designed to offer a structured, yet fun and educational course, to improve your dog's confidence and trust in all aspects of handling whilst giving them choice and control. We teach dogs to offer consent for all aspects of handling, from grooming to injections, making life happier and vet visits less stressful for all. This course is beneficial to every single dog and owner and will give you a greater understanding of your dog.

January 13, 20254 min read

When you bring a new puppy into your life, the joy, excitement, and endless cuddles are unparalleled. But alongside the wagging tails and playful antics, puppies bring their own set of behavioural challenges.

This is why effective private puppy training becomes so vital in establishing correct behaviours as well as strengthening the relationship you have with your dog for their continued wellbeing and safety, and your continued happiness.

At My Complex Canine, we offer professional 1:1 training services tailored to your puppy’s needs, helping you to raise a well-behaved, confident, and happy companion.

Why Choose Private Puppy Training?

Puppies are like sponges in their early months, absorbing information and forming habits that will shape their behaviour for life. While group classes are popular and necessary for some elements of socialisation, our private puppy training, offers unique advantages that are difficult to match, such as:

  • Personalised Attention - We understand that every puppy is different, with their own quirks, energy levels, and temperament. Private training ensures our trainer’s full focus is on your puppy, allowing for a tailored approach that addresses their specific needs.

  • Convenience - We deliver our bespoke training sessions at your home location or local area, allowing your puppy to train in a familiar environment. Whether at home or a nearby agreed location, our private training provides you with flexibility.

  • Focused Learning - Without the distractions of a group setting, your puppy can concentrate better, potentially leading to quicker progress.

  • Faster Results - One-on-one attention often accelerates learning, helping your puppy master commands and behaviours more efficiently.

Our private puppy training sessions are designed to create a positive, stress-free learning environment where both you and your puppy can thrive.

What Does Our Private Puppy Training Include?

Our professional private puppy training  covers a wide range of skills to ensure your puppy grows into a well-mannered adult dog. Here’s a few of the things you can expect from our sessions:

  • Basic Obedience Training - Teaching foundational commands like sit, stay, come, and down is essential for your puppy’s safety and your peace of mind. These commands can form the building blocks for a harmonious relationship between you and your pet.

  • House Training - Potty training is one of the first challenges new puppy owners face. We provide practical guidance to help your puppy learn where and when to go, making accidents a thing of the past.

  • Socialisation Skills - Socialising your puppy with other dogs, people, and environments is crucial for their development. Even in private sessions, we can incorporate strategies to build confidence and reduce fear or anxiety in new situations.

  • Lead Training - Pulling on the lead can turn a relaxing walk into a frustrating tug-of-war. Our lead training techniques can help your puppy walk calmly by your side, making walks enjoyable for both of you.

  • Addressing Problem Behaviours - From excessive barking and chewing to separation anxiety, we can identify and address behavioural issues before they become ingrained habits. In fact, we are a SCert.SAPT separation anxiety specialist, certified by a global expert, you can trust our expertise.

  • Advanced Training - Once your puppy has mastered the basics, we can work on advanced skills such as recall in challenging environments, impulse control, and even fun tricks to keep their mind engaged in our advanced puppy classes.
